تعتبر بورسعيد من المدن متوسطة الحجم حيث يسمح نسيجها بحرية التحرك مشياً أو بالدراجات. ساعد هذا على خلق مجتمع متضام و صحي لفترة قريبة. مع ذلك وبسبب اتخاذ القرارات التي تتجه نحو عمران السيارات, أصبح نسيج وبنية المدينة التحتية تتعرض لتغييرات سلبية.ز
ورشة ثقافة الدراجات في بورسعيد تعتبر ورشة تعليمية تفاعلية تهدف لرفع الوعي والتبادل المعرفي عن اهمية المشي والحركة بالدراجات في المدينة، تناولنا من خلالها تاريخ الدراجات في مدينة بورسعيد وتطور التنقل الحضري بها عبر السنين، والتعرف على الأبعاد الاجتماعية لاستخدام الدراجة من حيث الطبقة الاجتماعية والأعمار وانواع مستخدمي الدراجة من ذكور وإناث. شملت الورشة على أنشطة مختلفة منها عرض أفلام وخلق مساحة لصناعة مقترحات. وانتهت بجولة ميدانية بالدراجات حول بورسعيد.ز

تمت الورشة بالمشاركة مع المؤسسة التراثية للفنون والثقافة, ومؤسسة بورسعيد على قديمه اللتان ساهمتا في التعرف على المدينة والتراث والمجتمع المحلي.

Port Said is a medium-sized city and its morphology allows for an easy and enjoyable pedestrian and cycling movement. The compact shape of the city has created a positive influence on the livability and the social life in Port Said. And it wasn’t until the decision makers and traffic engineers had put cars first in the city’s street, that the walkability and cyclability of the city started worsening over the years.
In this interactive workshop, we have discussed the evolution of mobility in Port Said, the cultural influences that affects the use of bikes and the social aspects related to it (e.g. class, gender, age groups, etc.). The program had an array of activities including lectures, discussions, film screening, brainstorming sessions and ended with a ride through Port Said and Port Fouad.
The questions highlighted through all the activities were: Why do we need cycling infrastructure? what type of infrastructure? and How to advocate for cycling?
The workshop was conducted in cooperation with two organizations Al Turatheya for arts and culture and Port Said ala ‘adeemoh who offered their generous support and guided us through their beautiful city and its local culture.
